(INTER)NATIONAL DAY OF SLAYER BECOMES OFFICIAL

Hessians have declared their need for an identity of their own in their celebration of the first annual (Inter)National Day of Slayer. Long unrecognized as a cultural group, hessians (or "metalheads" to the layman) across the globe embraced the new holiday as something important as Easter, Rosh Hashana, or Ramadan and thus futher underlined the need for recognition within an otherwise indifferent world.

(Inter)National Day of Slayer has done something few grassroots movements of its type have acheived, namely to get mainstream media to take note. AP articles about 6/6/06 have included mention of the holiday, and new reports of activism surrounding it have been coming in by the hour. One notable instance was the descration of a local church (as described by the NDoS website) in Yonkers, New York, where celebrants spraypainted a pentagram, and more significantly, "REIGN IN BLOOD" on the steps of the church. Less activist events occured across the US, with numerous commercial radio stations celebrating the holiday by devoting entire days of programming to the Slayer catalog.

"We are overwhelmed with the response," stated JT, NDoS Director: "Holidays exist when people celebrate them, so it looks like the world has a new holiday on its hands."

Initially, (Inter)National Day of Slayer was designed as a one time only event due to the ominous date of 6/6/06, but the organization has decided it was successful enough to maintain for years to come. The date will remain June 6th, and the same standards of participation will apply.
